We thought the public would find this interesting. Our fire company participates in the Bensalem 6 company meetings. This is made up of the 6 Bensalem fire companies. For some reason, the rescue squad is there too. As our chiefs do not provide us with information from the meeting, we get it from the other fire companies. This past meeting was a real eye opener. Fred Harran was asked about the paid fire company and the grant that they wrote to get Federal money. Once again, Fred Harran would not provide a straight answer. When he was asked about the funding for the paid fire company after the grant runs out, and how the township going to pay for it, Once again, Fred Harran would not provide a straight answer.

Let us help you Fred. If you take $25,000.00 from each of the volunteer fire companies, the total is $150,000.00. The salaries for the paid firefighters are $40,000.00 (not including their benefits). That total is $160,000.00. This leaves a deficit of $10,000.00 BEFORE you include benefits, operating costs, etc. Not to mention that personnel costs are scheduled to rise each year!

Fred Harran has repeatedly threatened to close one of the fire companies! And replace it with what Fred? The township did a study on the fire companies THEN REFUSED TO SHARE THE STUDY WITH US! Are you kidding? Our representatives wanted to meet with the Mayor regarding the paid fire company and the study. Instead, the Mayor told us he had to meet with attorneys regarding the study before he would meet with us. This was in January of this year! We are still waiting for the meeting and the results. Everything you do regarding the fire service is a secret. That is except your inner circle. The fact that you continue to listen to this inner circle is amazing. When you consider the $5,000,000.00 training center disaster it is a wonder that anyone listens to any of you!

You (Fred) falsified information to obtain the SAFER grant (we now have a copy of the grant that you refused to release to us). This fact is well known to the Council and the Mayor. Yet, nothing is done. Maybe the Federal government will be interested in looking into this matter.

You and your inner circle can threaten the rest of us all you want. We will not remain silent and we will demand answers.
