I
found this at my doorstep this morning, and boy did it ever make me
mad! It also didn't surprise me, since Fred "Haman" Harran is nothing
but a deceitful piece of pond scum, who will do anything to get ahead!
Problem is that sooner or later Haman will answer for his sins, and will answer in a BIG way.
A few interesting facts we as a group
of emergency services members from Bensalem have put together.
1. Despite the continuing deterioration
of the township training center which they are no longer calling a fire
training center, there are no plans to fix the issues. There continues to be no
ability to provide heat generating equipment to simulate live fire training! In
order to have any kind of smoke generation, the fire companies have to supply
smoke generators.
2. The paid fire department continues to
violate the requirements established in the SAFER grant application which
included a properly staffed engine company arriving on location within 4
minutes of dispatch 90% of the time. The paid fire company has not even come
close to meeting this standard.
3. The SAFER grant contained information
indicating that the fire service responds to more than 3600 calls per year.
This means the fire service is responding to more than 10 calls per day. Which
the Bensalem fire service is not even close to responding to.
4. A paid firefighter drove to a fire
station, under the influence of alcohol, assaulted a volunteer firefighter,
damaged his vehicle then drove away!! This was all done in front of witnesses.
The volunteer firefighter and his father were pressured into not filing
charges! The paid firefighter agreed to repair the damaged vehicle and pay the
medical expenses! That's right! The victim was hospitalized as a result of the
intoxicated assault! The paid firefighter was later quoted in a Bristol
township bar after being asked if he was worried about being arrested. "They
were told to keep their mouths shut, and they are. Nothing's going to happen to
me. I'll kick his ass again if I have to"
5. A paid firefighter was sending
pictures of his genitals to a female member of a township fire company and
another female emergency services worker. Not one of the victims was
interviewed during the "investigation" conducted by the Director of Public
Safety. Within two days of the complaint, it was listed as unfounded.
6. A politically connected volunteer
fire chief who was caught stealing from the district requested assistance from
the Director of Public Safety with the school district. Now, instead of a
police investigation, there is a lengthy school district investigation. When
non-politically connected school employees have been caught stealing in the
past, they were arrested!!
7. The paid fire department continually
operates in the red. The Director of Public Safety and the Mayor stated that no
funds would be taken from the six volunteer fire companies to support the paid
fire department. The SAFER grant ALSO stated that no funds would be taken from
the volunteer fire companies to support the paid fire department. We all know
this is not true!!! To this date, we still don't know exactly much funding they
will be taking away from the volunteer fire departments.
8. During a weather emergency, the
Director of Public Safety called the paid fire department in for overtime while
ordering the six volunteer fire companies to man their stations for three days.
No additional funding was made available to support the eight manned fire
stations.
9. One volunteer fire company that has
several paid employees of the township Fire Marshall's office had its ladder
truck repaired with additional funds supplied by the township that were not
part of their yearly funding. No other fire company in the township receives
this special treatment.
10. The rescue squad received yet another
tax increase and continues to receive thousands of dollars from Parx Casino.
After their tax increase which was supposed to be needed to maintain their
level of service they reduced the number of ambulances they man from 3 to 2!
Yet, no one in the township government (Mayor, Council or Director of Public
Safety) has asked for an investigation.
11. The reasons for closing one of the
volunteer fire stations for "safety reasons" were proved to be false. No
investigation conducted by the Mayor.
12. A firefighter who has been a chief
and president of a fire company and has served our community for over 50 years
recently lost his wife. Not a single representative of the township attended
the services.
13. A paramedic was killed in the line of
duty and was denied benefits. His wife and a few friends took up the fight and
had a law passed to protect the emergency medical service members who provide
these lifesaving services. The township and his former employer did nothing to
help the family after the fan fair of the line of duty death services. Once the
cameras stopped, so did the township officials.
14. A woman was harassed by her
ex-boyfriend who was a married Bensalem cop. He stalked and harassed her over a
several month period. He found her unresponsive in a park off of State Road.
When she did not respond to his knocks on her window. He went to borrow a coat
hanger from some nearby fishermen. When he was unable to open the door (and the
female still had not moved), he went to a local fire company and borrowed tools
to try and unlock the car door. He never told the firefighters that there was a
person in the car not responding to him!! After a half hour and another
unsuccessful attempt to open the door the cop went back to the fire house. And
yes, the female STILL had not moved from her original position of being slumped
over on the steering wheel of her vehicle. He then went back to the fire
company and told the fire company members that his friend was in a car in the
park. He was unable to get into the car and his friend was not responding to
him. The fire company immediately responded to the park, saw the woman in the
car and could tell she was not breathing. They broke the window and pulled the
woman out. Despite their efforts she could not be revived. The investigation
stated that she had killed herself by shooting herself in the lower right
stomach causing the bullet to exit out her left shoulder. Besides the
boyfriend, no one else said the woman was depressed. She had a young son at
home and was planning to move out of the state with family to start a new life.
Her family members said she had been very optimistic about the change and was
glad to be rid of her ex-boyfriend. The gun that she claimed to have killed
herself with had been given to the ex-boyfriend cop several months before to be
cleaned and had not been returned to her. This information was confirmed with
family members of the woman. Her vehicle was never processed, the ex-boyfriend
cop was never tested to see if he had recently fired a gun and the case was
quickly closed!!!!
15. The Mayor refuses to meet with the
fire service to discuss the ongoing problems with the Public Safety Director
and his failure to truthfully provide information to the fire service.
16. The Council claims that they are not
told anything by the Mayor or his staff. They refused to look into anything.
Several Councilmen stated that they are aware of the paid fire engine being
parked for hours at one of the fire stations on Street Road. They said they
can't do anything about it. The Council also stated that they have no idea how
they are going to pay for the paid fire department. They also said they are
aware that the paid fire department is in violation of township ordinances.
17. Despite numerous complaints about the
driving of the paid fire department and numerous accidents in its short
existence, no corrective action has been taken. This includes damage to two
volunteer fire engines because the paid engine as out of service.
18. Oh, more than 60 Bensalem cops made
more than $100,000.00 last year. This is despite the increase in officers and the
continued approximately 25,000 calls for service each year!! This number, 25,000
has remained the same for approximately 30 years. Now, to cover this fact, the
police department is issuing incident report numbers for car stops, person
contacts and other incidents where numbers were not issued in the past. This is
an attempt to justify the ever increasing number of officers while the service
requirements remain the same! Despite the Mayors claims that we are safer
because he has hired more officers, there is no evidence to support this claim.
In fact, DESPITE the hiring of more officers, the calls for service remain the
same.
19. $5,000,000.00 to improve the State
intersection of Galloway road and Mechanicsville road with claims that the
State will give us the money for the improvement. The State never promised to
give us the money and to this date has not.
20. A certain councilman got the roadway
and parking lot behind his studio on Bristol Pike repaved using funds
designated for Bristol Pike improvements. Now there is a sign in the parking
lot claiming it is township property and is restricted!
21. $5,000,000.00 for a training center
that was poorly designed never properly equipped and placed in the worse
possible location. NO INVESTIGATION.
22. $5,000,000.00 to improve an
intersection to make the Mayor's drive home easier. No funds returned to the
township despite claims by the Council that we would be reimbursed by the
State.
23. The mysterious firing of the Fire
Marshall with no explanation to the members of the fire service and still NO
township Fire Marshall. The Director of Public Safety stated that the township
was "going in another direction". He has yet to show anyone what direction we
are going.
24. No support for the volunteer fire
companies by the Director of Public Safety. Just threats and demands that they
blindly go along with his mysterious programs.
25. Still no plan to allow the community
to use the new high school gym. The funds for a community center which were
provided to the township by the State were instead used for the gym.
As a group we can now finally
admit…things are bad. Fear, threats and harassment are their form of
leadership.
This
was compiled by individuals from multiple volunteer emergency services
companies in Bensalem, not just one "disgruntled" fire company. It is
not from a bunch of "misfits", but actual honorable first responders,
who have had it with the lies being spewed by the township. I have said
it before, and I will say it again, the more Haman tightens his grip,
the more people willing to do the right thing, will slip through his
fingers!
