It’s
rather interesting that the school district has now decided to sue the company
that did the faulty work on this gym. I guess that they think this is more important
that hiring a QUALIFIED facilities manager. The interesting thing about this is
that nowhere in this article are the actual FACTS concerning this. You see several years ago, the township received a
$2,000,000.00 grant from the outgoing Governor of Pennsylvania for a community
center. That with that additional $2,000,000 from the township was to be used
for a community center ONLY, but “His majesty” said it would
cost too much money to hire personnel to run the community center. So, I understand that as a result of this, the money was given to
the school district to build the new gym (it wasn't given back to the state).
This was done with the understanding that the community will be able to use the
gym. Question is how will that happen?? Answer: it can’t be used during school
hours, or after school activities, because children are there, so it would have
to be from 10PM till 8AM!! Who could use then??
Problem is that FIVE years later, there is still no plan to allow the community
to use the new high school gym. As the school board has
continually raised taxes, plus having gone through the recent $1.5 million
Theft for Time/Property Scandal, how much more will they have to be raised to
hire all these additional employees or pay overtime to run the gym after hours?
Now we have an incorrectly built gymnasium, which will
be an even bigger tax drain on this township. Guess the “great white elephant”
of a “fire training center”, isn’t the only problematic symbol of this town.
