WHERE ARE THE CONSEQUENCES??

THIS INFORMATION WAS GIVEN TO ME BY SOME VERY BRAVE PEOPLE, AND IT WAS FOUND ON THE WINDSHIELD OF OUR CAR. AFTER CAREFULLY READING THIS AND CONFIRMING THE CONTENTS WITHIN IT, I FELT IT NECESSARY TO SHARE. IN IT CONTAINS SOME RATHER VERY INTERESTING THINGS PERTAINING TO BENSALEM’S EMS STAFF, AND THE LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY TAKING PLACE WITHIN IT, AND IT’S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. 

We have two additions to our group of Bensalem emergency services members, two active members of the police department.  They have become increasingly frustrated with the leadership of the police department.  They are seeing firsthand the poor treatment of the public in general and the emergency services in particular.  These officers and members of our group would like to provide some information to you, hoping that the public will become involved.
The Director of Public Safety attacked the leadership of the Union Fire Company when they brought to light the violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, FALSE information contained in the 2010 Bensalem Township budget, and the dangerous operations of the paid fire department in direct contradiction of the SAFER grant application, which the township received close to $500,000.00 for.  This includes the illegal formation of the paid fire department, separate from the six volunteer fire companies.  In the SAFER grant, the goal was to form a combination paid-volunteer fire service in the township, NOT create a separate paid fire department!  This resulted in the wasting of more than $700,000.00 purchasing two pieces of fire apparatus for the paid fire department that were not needed. The Director of Public Safety, the Mayor, and (because they don’t have the guts to question anything the Mayor does) the entire Council took money away from the volunteer fire companies when the grant application clearly states that would not occur.  They took these funds away to pay for a paid fire service that we cannot afford due to the leaderships mismanagement of the SAFER grant.  They paid $30,000.00 for an emergency services survey that was targeted to eliminate the Union Fire Company, and include false, inaccurate and, deleted information.  Once, the Mayor finally got tired of the damage the Director of Public Safety was doing to the emergency services, he asked a former police officer to step in and become President of the Union Fire Company.  This former officer was not afraid of the Public Safety Director and put a stop to the harassment.  Interesting that nothing was done to Union Fire Company since!  The Director of Public Safety repeatedly refused to address a theft of funds from the Nottingham Fire Company by its former President despite repeated requests by members of that organization to do so!  Instead, the funds were allowed to be quietly paid back by his family members.  No charges!  AND, he was allowed to finish out his term as the President of the fire company and is STILL a member.  He was not forced to resign like the two chiefs of the Union Fire Company despite all the charges made against them by the Director of Public Safety being proven false!
A paid fire fighter attacked a volunteer firefighter.  There were numerous witnesses and damage to the volunteer firefighter’s personal vehicle AND the volunteer firefighter was hospitalized.  The victim of this attack and the fire department he belonged to were pressured by the Director of Public Safety to not press charges!  No charges have ever been filed in this case.  More than a year later, the paid firefighter quietly left his employment with the township.
Two police supervisors have been quietly transferred after repeated complaints made against them by employees and civilians.  They continue to hold rank within the department and their misconduct continues.
The Director of Public Safety was filmed by a local news agency drinking for hours at a golf tournament then afterwards leaving the place, driving in his township vehicle. It was obvious to those who have seen the video that he should not have been driving a vehicle, let alone a township vehicle.  When this was brought to the attention of the Mayor, he refused to speak with the reporter OR view the tape.  Instead, he had one of the township’s attorney’s contacts the reporter, refuse to address the issue and state the Director of Public Safety can do whatever he wants with the vehicle.
It’s part of his contract with the township to use the vehicle for personal use!Later, members of the fire departments spoke with a councilman who was aware of the problem with the Director of Public Safety.  The councilman said the Director of Public Safety was brought in and told not to do it again!  That was it, no suspension, no firing, nothing. The Director of Public Safety called a press conference and told the public he shut down the Union Fire Company for undisclosed safety violation that would endanger the firefighters and the general public. The Mayor stood right next to him at the press conference.
We think driving in a township vehicle, in public, after drinking alcohol for more than five hours IS a public safety issue.  Not only was he not suspended, the vehicle was not taken from him!  In fact, shortly after the sit down with the mayor, the Director of Public Safety was boasting in the police station that he could do whatever he wants!  They have connections at the TV station that videotaped his driving after the golf tournament and squashed the story.  That must be true, it never aired!

The emergency services have suffered enough under this unqualified and vindictive leadership. Moral continues to plummet. Members of our emergency services community have chosen to volunteer in surrounding townships to get away from this mess.  Every time we drive past that 5 million dollar embarrassment of a training center that was constructed “because we can” it reinforces our opinions.
The group has seen what happens to those that question the madness.  Maybe if the public started publicly asking questions things will change.
Until then, the destruction continues.
P.S.  Where does the $11,000,000.00 from PARX go every year Mr. Mayor?  The council either doesn’t know or is afraid to say.


OK LET’S START WITH THE OBVIOUS HERE, WE HAVE INDIVIDUALS WORKING WITHIN BENSALEM’S EMS, WHO ARE COMMITTING CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, AND THEY GET AWAY WITH IT. REASON WHY?? IT’S BECAUSE OF A VERY VINDICTIVE, ARROGANT PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR WHO ALLOWS IT ALL. IN THE MEANTIME, WHEN ANYONE CONFRONTS HIM WITH ANY TYPE OF WRONGDOING (INCLUDING HS OWN.), HE LASHES OUT AT THOSE WHO CONFRONT HIM, AND MAKES THEIR LIVES A NIGHTMARE. DON’T BELIEVE ME?? LOOK AT THE JERRI’S! THEY BRAVELY POINTED OUT SERIOUS DISCREPENCIES WITHIN THE ENTRIES WITHIN THE TOWNSHIP’S BUDGET (YOU KNOW THE $750,000 FAKE GRANT), THE FALSE INFORMATION CONTAINED WITHIN THE SAFER GRANT THAT FORMED THE PAID FIRE SERVICE, AND THE FALSE ACCUSATIONS AND SLANDEROUS THINGS SAID  AGAINST UNION FIRE COMPANY, AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. IF IT WASN’T FOR THE NEW PRESIDENT OF UNION FIRE COMPANY STANDING UP TO ‘SHERRIFF LOBO’, THIS LITTLE FIRE COMPANY WOULD BE NO MORE.
JUST TO MAKE SOMETHING CLEAR, AS WELL AS IF TRUE, LAST I CHECKED, DRIVING IN ANY VEHICLE DRUNK, IS A CRIMINAL ACT, AND NO EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT, OR CONNECTIONS, CAN MAKE THAT GO AWAY!! BEING GIVEN A GOOD TALKING TO’ IS ALSO NOT THE SOLUTION, BUT A GOOD FIRING AND BEING PUT IN JAIL IS.  IF I WERE THE LONE DEMOCRAT ON COUNCIL, I’D BE PITCHING A FIT ON THIS, AND DEMANDING ANSWERS. THE TIME FOR EXCUSES AND COWARDICE IS OVER, DEMOCRATS. YOU NEED TO QUIT BEING THE MAYOR’S ‘BFF’ AND ACT ON THIS AND MUCH MORE. QUIT THE EXCUSE OF NOT WANTING TO BE LABELED ‘RUMOR MONGERS’, ETC. AND DEMAND ANSWERS CONCERNING THE PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR’S ACTIONS. INSIST ON SEEING THIS TAPE, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO GO TO WHOEVER RECORDED IT, AND DEMAND ACTION. IT’S TIME TO START SHOWING A BACKBONE, AND TO SAY SOMETHING MR. ALLEN AND THE TIME IS NOW.
