The standard response from His Majesty, and the Kool-Aid drinking lot, has always been that school taxes have nothing to do with the town, when they know it DOES!! Thank you for FINALLY speaking out on issue as important as this.
As the Dad of a Valley elementary school student (with 2 more right behind her), I am extremely concerned to hear about the School District's plan to gut the mu...sic and art programs. The cuts that the School Board have proposed will have a negative impact on our students, as well as property values because they are tied to the health of our school system. Despite raising taxes 7 out of the last 8 years, this board continues to engage in fiscal mismanagement. Despite a multi million dollar fraud/theft scandal which led to the arrest of 7 employees as well as 13 others less than 4 years ago, they continue to show no real oversight of how our money is spent. Currently, the The High School renovation project is behind schedule and tens of millions of dollars over budget- as the school district failed to correct the mistakes they made with the gym fiasco, which itself cost $5 million dollars and had a leaky roof. That was why I as a council member I voted against the land development for the High School Renovation. It is downright criminal that an entire generation of Bensalem children could be left behind their peers because of the negligence of their elected officials.

The school district must look at options such as; eliminating the political patronage that runs rampant at the district, and reducing the legal rates of their solicitor (who charges less for the same work in the Neshaminy School District).
It is time for the School Board to get their priorities straight, stop wasting the taxpayer's money, and start putting Bensalem's future first.
