The first casino opened in November 2006. Using the year 2007 as a start, Bensalem has received $10,000,000.00 (not including real estate taxes) each year. Beginning in 2010, Bensalem received $11,000,000.00 (not including real estate taxes) each year. That would be a total of $52,000,000.00. This money was targeted to offset costs associated with hosting the casino.
When the Mayor was running for re-election, he instituted a
$500.00 payment to each active volunteer firefighter in Bensalem for the
service they provide. The homeowners were also receiving $300.00. Now, the
firefighters no longer get the
$500.00 and the Mayor TOOK MONEY AWAY from
the six volunteer fire companies. He also permitted
the Director of Public Safety to drive
out members of the Union Fire Company, close
it down twice for reasons that the Director of Public Safety refuses to explain, and has forced them to operate on the Delaware
River with small, obsolete marine units. He did however permit the Director of Public Safety to
purchase himself yet another large SUV with chrome wheels and tinted windows!!
Oh, so we don't forget to mention it,
the homeowners no longer get the $300.00 per year from the casino funds.
Township employees who fix your antique tractor for free and hold
committee positions benefit greatly from
inside deals within the township. How many outsiders have been permitted to
swap land with the township to build houses on?
How about using County open space funds to by wet lands along
Haunted lane that were owned by in-laws
of a former Councilman. We needed to buy wet lands that could not be
developed? Not to mention our school taxes continue
to rise, despite your promise that if we voted for the casino at
Philadelphia Park, half the money would
go to the school district to reduce school taxes. That never happened!
Other than increasing the size of government,
what have you improved with the money? You claim you don't
raise taxes! This is the only
municipality in the State with a population of 50,000 or more that does not
have trash, water and sewer as part of their municipal services. Why is that Mr.
Mayor??? Not to mention the mess your politically hired employees of the school
district have created. So, in short
Where is the Money Going Mr. Mayor?
