I am a friend of Chris Barry and have known him for several years. Chris is a Bensalem police sergeant. I felt compelled to get this to you after reading about Harris Martin in the police blog. Chris is an honest hard working police officer. He founded the narcotics unit for the Bensalem police. The unit received numerous awards from local and federal agencies.
During an election year, Chris was approached by the director of public safety, regarding Harris Martin, when Chris was in charge of the narcotics unit. The director of public safety told Chris to check the trash in front of Harris Martin's house. The director told Chris the mayor would be very happy if Chris found anything in the trash to charge Harris Martin with a crime. Several officers went through the trash and found nothing. When Chris told the director that nothing was found at Harris Martin's house, Chris was told to go and check the trash in front of Harris Martin's house himself! Chris found nothing. The director was very disappointed. Chris believed that the director wanted him to put something there to find.
When Chris stood up against political interference with his investigations, he was moved out of the unit. There have been numerous allegations made against him by the people in charge of the police department. To this day, he has never been brought up on charges or even told who was accusing him! Yet, he was removed from the head of that unit. Since his removal from that unit, a member of that unit has been arrested out of state. Was that member removed from the unit? NO!
Before leaving the unit, Chris conducted several raids on area bars that had illegal poker machines in it. The next day, Chris was approached by the Mayor and told that he was hurting the mayor's relationships with local businesses with his raids on the local bars. The very next day, Chris was told by the director of public safety not to charge anyone regarding the raids until he was told to by the director! Chris was also told that if he was conducting any investigations that would be harmful to the mayor or the mayor's friends, he should advise the director before taking action! Needless to say, anytime Chris had something involving the mayor's friends the source of the information dried up!
After more then a year and a half past, Chris went to one of the police lieutenants and told the lieutenant of his concerns that the charges were being deliberately left unfiled. When Chris brought it to the attention of the people in charge of the police department that charges had not been brought against the defendants, he was ignored.
Chris formed an investigative unit recently that was very successful. He provided more truthful information regarding misconduct within the police. Needless to say, that unit was disbanded after Chris provided the information.
They have damaged his reputation, removed him from the head of units, yet never filed a charge against him.
Now I read the paper and see that they got someone to do something against Harris Martin that Chris refused to do.
Now we all know that Chris Barry is about one of the most crooked cops there is. This man allegedly had the nerve to put a "hit" out on one of his ex wives, has had several domestic violence/ alcohol abuse issues, and was responsible for a MAJOR fight that took place at Carabbas in 2009. IF any of this is true, it only goes to show that there is no honor among thieves, or should I say dirty cops.
As of This Date, Barry was forced into early retirement! It was last known that he was in Afghanistan teaching "Law enforcement techniques" to the locals.

As I re-read all the articles concerning this, it crossed my mind, that there is a strong possibility that what was attempted on Harris Martin, may very well have been done to Sherry Underland and her family!! If I were Underland's attorney, I would look into this, starting with contacting Harris Martin.
