This just came in to me this AM, with my morning paper, and after reading it, I had to share:
Well, we waited for over 5 months and the Township fire service survey was finally released. Before we get into the specifics of the survey, we need to remind everyone of the meeting in November of 2010 with DPS Harran. At that meeting, though he provided almost no information regarding the paid fire company or how the township intended to fund it, he did provide some information. The information that he did provide, indicated that the township had tried to obtain money from the fire company's Relief Associations for the new paid fire company. Due to legal constraints, they were unable to get any of the money. Now the "survey" states that it would be in the best interest of the fire service to "pool" their money with the township! That gives the township access to the money they could not have before!
There was one fire company at the meeting that was all for it! Of course, that fire company has been financially mismanaged for years. They and the township would benefit from the pooling of the money. What about the fire companies that save their money for projects? What would they gain by giving a township that has a history of mismanagement regarding fire service finances and that one volunteer fire company access to their Relief Funds? You just have to look at the SAFER grant fiasco which the township still has no plan to fund. The one fire company that does not properly manage their finances would gain from this arraignment along with the paid township fire company. These two sources would drain the funds that the balance of the fire service has consistently properly managed. This is what they paid thousands of dollars for? The Public Safety Director has a history of concealing his actions, providing false information and a general lack of any semblance of a plan for the fire service. This has cost the township millions in wasted funds!!! Just look at the training building! Over 5 million dollars spent no sprinkler system, no heat generating system, no bathrooms, no classrooms and no water! Now we learn there are structure problems and the building CANNOT be fitted with a heat generating system! What a waste of money. How does the government of Bensalem permit this to continue? This group has damaged the reputation of the Bensalem fire service with the surrounding townships, wasted millions of dollars, threatened the arrest of a fire chief on a charge that has since been proven false and supported tax increases instead of supporting programs designed to improve service and reduce taxes!
There will be more to follow as we read through the "survey". There were a few people attending the meeting who were not surprised by this new information. They had a "I told you so look on their faces". Maybe the rest of us should start listening to them. We wait months for information to be released by the PSD. None of which makes sense. Most of it answers none of our questions and raises even more!
I also learned just who the Fire department is that is all for the results of this survey..... NOTTINGHAM!! It didn't take much investigation, because its widely known, that many of the volunteers of this fire company are township employees, who re loyal to Harran and Joey D. What I find also interesting, is that it was PROVEN that Chief Troisi and Union fire Co. were proven COMPLETELY innocent of the accusations brought against them weeks ago, but there as been NO apology for this by Harran!! Guys, (ALL Volunteer Firefighters!!), I think its time that you all go to the next council meeting, and........................
DEMAND HARRAN TELL THE TRUTH....... NOW!!!
