CAPITALIZING ON TRAGEDY

An interesting thing happened when my hubby got back from one of his teaching assignments, and found the following little goodie at our doorstep. I opened it up and read it, and was not at all surprised by what I found. I knew that this was something important, and in light of wanting my readers to know the truth, I had to share this with all of you. When you read it, you’ll more than likely see as I did, that our dear Sherriff Lobo is doing his usual grandstanding, and this time he’s doing it at the expense of a grieving family. Don’t believe me?? Read for yourself below:

Regarding the fatal accident that took place on Bensalem Boulevard and Bridgewater Rd. Public Safety Director Harran made some inaccurate statements and if the BTPD would have conducted a more THOROUGH investigation they may have reached a different conclusion.

Mr. Harran claimed that at the time of the accident the school bus red lights were flashing and that the arm in front of the bus was extended, while this is true the "arm" extends out perpendicular from the bus and cannot easily be seen by an oncoming motorist. The purpose of the "arm" is to keep students a safe distance in front of the bus so that they may be clearly visible to the bus driver. It is NOT a warning device for other motorists.

Mr. Harran incorrectly claims that Mr. Shelly disregarded the school bus warning equipment and that resulted in him striking Ms. Zeka (May she rest in peace). While Mr. Shelly's actions leading up to the accident were in fact negligent, the claim that Ms. Zeka was struck because he ran the school bus lights is FALSE. Ms. Zeka was struck while crossing the street IN FRONT of the school bus and at the point of impact Mr. Shelly had NOT run through any warning lights as of yet. Should he have stopped prior? Absolutely. However, the claim that this accident was caused by Mr. Shelly running school bus lights is FALSE! Once Mr. Shelly struck Ms. Zeka he brought his vehicle to a complete stop, yes at that point he crossed the threshold of the front of the bus but stopped immediately and the argument could be made that immediately after the impact, he was not in complete control of his vehicle which is often the case immediately after any vehicular impact.

Mr. Harran is either a complete idiot or he is not at all familiar with the motor vehicle laws regarding school bus stops. I'm Ok with either one of those possibilities. For years Bensalem School Bus Drivers have been complaining about Mrs. Harran disregarding school bus lights and illegally passing school buses while their red lights were activated while driving her Red Nissan Xterra with FOP (Fraternal Order of Police Emblems) on the license plate.

To further aggravate this situation Judge Brown echoed Mr. Harran's sentiments regarding the school bus lights and HE should be more familiar with the PA Motor Vehicle Code as he deals with it every day. I found Judge Brown's statements during the arraignment to be biased, inflammatory based more on opinion than, that of fact. It would be my hope that Judge Brown now be forced to recuse himself from the case as he has admitted bias and demonstrated a prejudice.

I find both Mr. Harran and Judge Brown to be hypocritical when it comes to matters such as this tragic event. Mr. Harran has demonstrated that he IS an aggressive and careless driver with his township vehicle. There have been numerous incidents involving BTPD officers and their consumption of alcohol and operation of vehicles have been covered up by this very police department. In addition, it is now documented ON VIDEO that Mr. Harran shops for, and consumes alcohol prior to driving his township owned vehicle. As for Judge Brown, several people have complained about him driving his Mercedes through stop signs on Hollandale Drive without coming to a complete stop, yet he feels qualified to pass judgment on others who come before him after receiving traffic citations for similar actions! The bail that Judge Brown set was outrageous, and obviously a political move most likely at the request of Mr. Harran. Mr. Shelly was cooperative with the police from the moment they arrived on the scene of the accident.

This was a horrible and tragic accident. An innocent girl has died and an 18 yr. old has learned the hard way about the consequences of his negligent actions. It is my hope that he faces trial for the appropriate charges and not the inflated politicized charges so that everyone may begin to heal from this situation.

Typical of Lobo to do this, isn’t it? Worse yet, Judge Brown says unprofessional and prejudicial things, and it’s all for the sake of political grandstanding!!  Not only is a grieving family being used to make themselves look good, but they’re also willing to ruin a young man’s life in the process. All for the sake of Politics and worse!! While this young man needs to be held accountable for his actions, it should NOT be based on the prejudicial statements of a judge, who blindly believes everything he’s told by the BTPD. Most of all, he shouldn’t be believing the lies of a public safety director who is not only a hypocrite, but a sleazy, condescending, womanizing, scuzzy, miserable excuse for man, who needs to be in jail!! I only hope and pray that TRUE justice is found and that this young man is given this without his life being ruined.

  1. Brown made some very prejudicial statements in this, and that will get him in LOTS of trouble. If anything it will be used by this young man's attorney for a future appeal. Remember Judge Brown bought into the LIES that Lobo used concerning Dave Jerri, Jr. and it's biting him in the you know where. Lobo and his majesty still have to contend with this existing lawsuit because it is in the federal appeals court, so they're plenty scared!!
