Some Agenda Ideas For the Next Council Meeting

Bensalem Township cancelled the August, 8th council meeting due to a "lack of an agenda". We have decided to suggest the following items for discussion so as to prevent the cancellation of another council meeting.
1. Review the township budget and address the almost $9,000,000.00 projected 2011 deficit.
2. Review the continued underfunding of the snow removal line item to prevent future deficits within this line item.
3. Review the costs of operating the township golf course which continues to show a negative cash flow.
4. Review the amphitheater operating costs which continues to show a negative cash flow.
5. Develop a township road renewal program for ALL the township roads in Bensalem.
6. Review the continued expansion of the township police department despite approximately 25,000 years calls for service that has been consistent since the mid 1970's.
7. Review the fire marshal's office budget and address the increased costs verses reduced service.
8. Investigate the "bulk billing" that is being done for the fire marshal's office. This is an illegal practice and results in businesses not being inspected yearly as required by state law.
9. Establish a funding program for the daytime paid firefighters that does not drain funding from the six dedicated volunteer fire companies.
10. Obtain a copy of the SAFER grant application that the township submitted from the Director of Public Safety (who continues to refuse to give it to the township fire companies) and investigate the fraudulent information contained within the application.
11. Review the tax increase provided to the Bensalem Rescue Squad to allow them to meet National Standards. After receiving the increase, they moved all three of their in service ambulances ABOVE Hulmeville Road. One of these ambulances continues as a part time service despite the tax increase.
12. Investigate the false accusations leveled against one of the fire companies by the Director of Public Safety.
13. Investigate the racial statements made by the Director of Public Safety regarding the incident in Linconia ("I understand it is part of your culture to come outside and watch when police are arresting someone").
14. Investigate the Mayor's moving of money between line items without referring the matter to council which approves the budget.
15. Create a 2012 budget that is realistic and will not result in yet another multi-million dollar budget deficit.

Sounds Like a GREAT Idea to Me!!

Even Republicans Think Joey D and Council Need to Go!!

I found this posting on the Patch, and had to share it. This person makes a LOT of sense, and I hope the Bensalem democrats read this.

I have been a resident of the township for almost thirty years and pretty much the same core group of people have been calling all the shots. Here, as down in Washington, we need term limits. I have been a registered Republican since 1973 and my suggestion is for all the Democrats to switch parties in this township and to field their candidates as Republicans and maybe we can finally get some fresh faces to chose from in the primary. In the mayors defense, he has done a lot of nice things for the township but it is becoming more and more evident that we need a major house cleaning in regards to our local government. As others have said, I too chose to pay to send my children to Catholic schools while paying for the education of the public school students. My tax bill bill has risen from $2200 to over $7000 in the time that I have lived here mainly due to the school district taxes. I am an Empty Nester, and have to continue paying exorbitant taxes for an under-achieving school district that would rather build a Taj-Mahol gym than put out a better product in the way of better educated students as compared to some of our surrounding communities . A change in our leadership is way overdue!

Its interesting to see that even Republicans such as this individual, have the common sense to realize the difference between right and wrong, and that we can't afford "one party rule" here in Bensalem anymore. It says a great deal about this town, in that there are people like this, who feel
that people such as our township council, and Joey D need to go, and are willing to do something on it.

For Once the BCCT is Telling It Like It Is!!

The Truth Will Not Be Silenced!!

As usual Joey D and Harran's, stooges can't handle the truth coming out, because they keep putting their foot in their mouths, with FALSE accusations, and ignorant statements. This more than explains why the township cancelled tomorrow's council meeting. They're AFRAID of people like Harris Martin, and myself asking all those uncomfortable questions about the township's budget and the training center. You know the $5 million flop!! I am in no way unhappy with Bensalem as many of you cronies so FALSELY put it, but I am not happy with those who run it. As the saying goes, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely.", and its not a matter of which party is in charge, because just like Philly, "one party rule" is what is unhealthy. Have you ever been to a council meeting?? Have you asked for a copy of the township's budget, the SAFER Grant, or demanded to see a copy of the township's emergency plan?? Of course not. You just follow along and drink the Joey D Kool-Aid. I have news for you, many of us have done so, and what we have seen is a real eye opener! There are LOTS of others (of all parties) who are unhappy with the way this town is being run, and they are going to raise their voices, and

VOTE THE RATS OUT!!

Community Day

Hey gang!!

Anyone happen to be at the Community Day event in Linconia?? I wasn't able to be there, due to being sick, but would love to hear from someone who was there about all that went on. I heard that Joey D and crew weren't there long. (Apparently, they never are!)

What are they afraid of ????????????????

TOWNSHIP IS HIDING A GREAT DEAL!!

http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/bensalem/council-cancels-another-meeting/article_0096af0b-616e-5eae-a42a-4355b3f0feb1.html

I wasn't sure if are you aware that the township had a $6.5 million deficit in 2010, and they chose to take care of it, by firing 6 people (Two of which were the Puiblic Relations Director Dave Fiedler, and Rosalee Flemke, the BTPD's Domestic Violence Services Coordinator.), and dipping into their trust fund, and taking out $6.5 million? Does that make any sense to you, as to how you handle a deficit?? Normally, if you "lay off" people, you start from the bottom up (Last hired, first fired), not people a year away from retirement, or doing away with a valuable service!
Are you also aware, that there is a possible over 9 million dollar deficit looming for this year, but they REFUSE to give any answers on the current state of the budget??
It seems to me, that whenever people have been asking about the budget, the FIre Training Center, and lots more at these last Council Meetings, that they either refuse to answer, play dumb, or flat out LIE!!! Does that sound like a government you can be confident in? NOT TO ME!!

Definite Shadiness!!
