I had the
opportunity to learn some interesting things about Joe Pilleri, and one of
those interesting things, is how he is very opportunistic, and has earned the
nickname “Weasel” as a result. I haven’t heard this one used to describe anyone
since the late Bobby “the Brain Heenan, a once famous WWE Manager, and it made
me wonder how he earned this moniker. Well, here is how it occurred.
In 2006 at the
Bensalem Council reorganization meeting in early January, three council members
voted to not approve the reappointment of Public
Safety Director Steve Moran. These three
Council members were Republican Joe Szafran with his trusty sidekick Joe
Pilieri, and Bryan Allen, who had just been elected to Council the previous
November as a Democrat. Republican
councilmen Ed Kisselback and John DiEgidio voted to approve the reappointment
of Steve Moran.
For five
months afterwards, nothing happened and the director of public safety position
remained vacant. The vacancy was not advertised or posted publicly and no public search for
a new director occurred. Finally
the mayor proposed Fred Haran for director and Council approved. (BIG
MISTAKE!!) Mr. Moran got a substantial severance package but the details were
never made public. (I have them if anyone is interested.) In the end Moran got
a cushy job, and lots of $$$ for his time as P.S.D. of Bensalem.
Several
independent sources confirm that Steve Moran was alleged to have tried to
blackmail Joe Pilieri. Allegedly, Moran
threatened Pilieri with exposure of illegal behavior by Pilieri unless Pilieri
voted to approve Moran’s reappointment.
Apparently, Pilieri called Moran’s bluff by voting against him anyway. What
was Moran alleged to have tried to blackmail Joe Pilieri with? Was this threat ever reported to the
appropriate law enforcement authorities?
If not, why not?
”Weasel” apparently also parrots everything
“His Majesty” says, and has been consistently catering to both his and Haman’s
every whim, especially when it came to Union fire Company. How you ask?? He did
this, by NEVER speaking up concerning the
situation, and by NEVER asking any questions
about this of Haman, or anyone else for that matter. During all of the attacks
on Union Fire Company, not a peep was heard from Pilleri, especially at the
2011 meeting at Pen Ryn Mansion. During
all of this, he and the other members of council echoed the words, “They never tell us anything.” At
several meetings I attended in 2011, he remained silent, as I asked serious questions
concerning these issues, while “His Majesty” and his attorney, (Who had NO
right speaking in this situation.), UNSUCCESSFULLY tried to make me look
foolish, which resulted in several cancelled meetings. It wasn’t until Haman’s attempt to close Union
Fire Company permanently, and exposed to the truth (By the brother of another
member of council, no less!), that he showed ANY spine. He also has failed to
question anything about the budget deficits, and hold “His Majesty” to task for
this, because His Majesty holds a tight grip on the books, and controls
EVERYTHING concerning the disbursement of the budget’s funds.
Now he is
running for re-election, and thinks that this won’t come out?? Well, “Weasel”….
Guess again!! Despite all the attempts
to deceive, it hasn’t worked, and now you, other members of council, His
Majesty, and Haman are facing serious lawsuits from individuals you allowed to
be harassed within this town, the glaring budget deficit is now a plain fact,
in which the Township’s reserve fund will be gone in LESS than 8 years!! Face
it, the truth is now coming out for all to see, and it isn’t pretty. The eyes
of MANY within the township are now opened to both “His Majesty’s” and your
activities, and we have something to say on this…..
