We read in the paper how the Mayor was bragging about not
raising taxes and no layoffs. Then we read the rest of the article! Are you
kidding us? First, you take money away from the six volunteer fire companies to
pay for a paid fire company that only operates 40 hours a week during weekdays! Then you are all proud of
yourselves for proposing a 64 million dollar budget while confirming that your
“best estimate” of revenue is 54.5 million!
That is a deficit of 9.5 million dollars! How is that a balanced
budget?
You next claim that you will be transferring 4.9 million dollars
from the reserve fund to make up the difference! Where is the other 4.6 million
coming from? Oh Wait, it gets better. Your “financial guru”, states that it is
really only 3 million from the reserve fund because you anticipate making 1
million in interest. Really????
Really???? Really????
How did you come up with that figure?
When the Mayor came into office there was 71 million in the
reserve fund from the sale of the water and sewer department. Thanks again for
that, our water and sewer rates have gone up every year since. What is the cost
of the Mayor getting to claim he doesn’t raise taxes? Continued increases in
sewer and water bills!
Back to the 71 million dollars…. how can you anticipate 1
million in interest when you also claim that the fund has been depleted from 71
million to 49 million due to the economic situation? Expecting a big turnaround
this year?
Our township receives 11 million per year from the casino and we
STILL have a 9.5 million dollar deficit! You complain about the president
spending more than he takes in….look in the mirror!
You even have the nerve to ask for more casino money from the
county!
In the same article you state that the costs of operating the
police department will be 21.2 million dollars or 67% of the township budget.
You say that this increase is due to contractual obligations. Yet you claim
that you intend to reduce operating costs? How, putting off the purchases of
equipment like cars and vests (not new cars for the Director and Deputy
Director of course) for the officers? Maybe they will only patrol 20 hours a
day saving on gas? Whatever happened to the police firearms range you promised
them when you shut down the one behind your house?
We find it amazing that you congratulate yourselves by stating
you are not raising taxes or having layoffs then report that you are spending
9.5 million then you receive! How many volunteer fire companies could survive
operating like that?
You have created a township government that is too large to be
supported by the citizens and businesses of Bensalem!
You list 5.8 million in capital improvements for intersections.
Your own township engineer has told of the millions and millions needed to
repair roads that are way overdue for re-paving and improvements that you
continue to ignore. Then you mention the need for "Intersection
improvements"? What Mr. Mayor, are you taking a different way home? The 5
million we paid for your left turn onto Galloway road was not enough?
Funding to our volunteer fire companies has dropped thanks to
very poor planning and a very questionable SAFER grant application.
The township training center was a colossal waste of $5.3
million dollars that you were told by the county you did to expend. The fire
companies get more training for free from the new training center in Bristol.
Your Director of Public Safety continues to ignore the National Fire Protection Association standards that are
applicable to the training center.
Your Director of Public Safety continues to cover-up the assault committed by a paid fire department member.
You and the Council continue to ignore the township ordinance for fire companies established and
operated in our township.
Your list of friends hired at your request by the school district involved in the millions of dollars of
thefts continues to grow!
Your political friends pointing at the statute of limitations
for many of the thefts as a defense for their decades of theft from the
taxpayers are disgusting!
You promised that if we voted for the casinos, the funds would
be divided between the township and the school district keeping our taxes down never happened.
Instead of a community center, you gave that was money given to
us for the project to the school district for a new gym at the high school. All
of this, with no plan to permit the public to use the new gym.
You did make one point when you were nice enough to throw us a
bone of $100.00 from the casino money. You stated that it is our money. You are
correct. It is our money. ALL OF IT IS! Not yours to throw around to get re-elected. Are you kidding? You want us to
accept an offer that gives us less than $2.00 a week to put up with all the
crap from that casino? Yeah right!!
Even your inner circle has been telling us that we can expect a
tax increase after you are re-elected. We can here it now…."We have not
raised taxes in decades!" No you haven't. You've done worse!! You just passed the buck to those that have to come in and
clean up your mess! All you do is simply move your debt from one year to the next. Now you are patting yourselves on
the back for submitting a budget that is 9.5 million dollars beyond your
expected revenue!
We are the largest municipality in Bucks County and the only
large municipality that does not include trash pickup as part of our services from the township. The Mayor’s claim
that individual homeowners can get a better deal than the entire township is ridiculous at best!
You have more in common with Mr. Obama then anyone realized…you
both create a government that the people cannot financially support. You both
hope you are out office before the bottom falls out, while you both are
creating a haven for illegal aliens to live at the expense of taxpayers. You
both use your law enforcement agencies to intimidate the public, preventing
them from speaking out against you…and you and your group are as good as the
President in covering up wrong doing!
WELL, YOUR MAJESTY.......
EXPLAIN HOW YOU HAVE FAILED TO BALANCE THIS TOWN'S BUDGET FOR THE PAST 4
YEARS, AND LIE ABOUT IT BEING BALANCED. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO US HOW YOU
HAVE "AN AFFINITY FOR THE LATINO COMMUNITY", WHEN YOU NOT ONLY
DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THEM, BUT EVERY OTHER MINORITY IN THIS TOWN,
INCLUDING WOMEN?? EXPLAIN TO US HOW YOU ALLOW A PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR,
TO ABUSE HIS AUTHORITY AGAINST A POLITICAL OPPONENT SUCH AS HARRIS
MARTIN (AT YOUR COMMAND) FOR A PETTY ISSUE.
PLEASE JUSTIFY THIS
SAME PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR PERSECUTING AN HONORABLE FIRE COMPANY,
FALSELY ARREST ONE OF THE FORMER FIRE CHIEF'S SON, AND TRASHING OTHER
HONORABLE FIRE FIGHTERS WITH THIS FIRE HOUSE, ALL BECAUSE OF A GRUDGE
AND A BOAT. WHILE YOU'RE BOTH AT IT, PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW YOUR PUBLIC
SAFETY DIRECTOR, DEPUTY PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR, AND THE IMMEDIATE
SUPERVISORS OF FORMER DETECTIVE JENNIFER CANNON
WERE ALLOWED TO
GO SCOTT FREE, WHILE DETECTIVE CANNON BECAME THE SCAPE GOAT FOR THEIR
ENTIRE INCOMPETENCE CONCERNING THE WALTER MEYERELE CASE?? AS A RESULT,
YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PERSONAL JERRY SANDUSKY SCANDAL, AND THE PEOPLE OF
THIS TOWN ARE FED UP WITH THIS!!
